Computek's 2023 Summer Graduation Ceremony
On June 14, 2023, Computek College held the first of its three grand in-person graduation ceremonies since 2019. Interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 450 graduates from programs in business, healthcare, and technology, had the opportunity to be presented to special guests, industry and community partners, family, and friends in a formal yet fun ceremony.

Implications of the Recent Monetary Policy Actions
In the latest development, the Bank of Canada implemented a 25 basis point adjustment to the economy on Wednesday, resulting in an increase of the central bank’s overnight rate to 5.0 percent. This move signifies a significant tightening of monetary policy, effectively reversing interest rates from their record lows to levels last witnessed during the 2007-08 financial crisis.
For numerous individuals, this recent decision feels akin to a decisive blow, amplifying concerns that emerged with the previous rate hike. However, an equal number of people are desperately wishing that this will be the concluding action in this series. Tiff Macklem, the esteemed governor of the Bank of Canada, remains uncertain about the future. He unequivocally stated that they are not averse to implementing further increases, should the need arise.
Realtors are currently reporting an upsurge in inquiries from homeowners contemplating selling their properties due to the persistent pressure stemming from the renewal or escalation of variable rates.
With commercial bank prime rates now reaching 7.20 percent, variable rate mortgages are expected to fall within the range of 6.0 percent.
