CTCC Celebrates Thai Pongal and Hosts Successful 1st Quarterly Members’ Meeting

The Canadian Tamils’ Chamber of Commerce (CTCC) successfully hosted its Thai Pongal Celebration and 1st Quarterly Members’ Meeting (QM) on January 14, 2026, at the CTCC Business Centre, drawing a full-house audience of members, community leaders, and distinguished guests.

The evening began at 6:30 p.m. with the traditional Lighting of the Oil Lamp, symbolizing prosperity, gratitude, and new beginnings. The program continued with a warm Welcome Address by Vithu Ramachandran, Vice President – Internal Affairs, followed by remarks from CTCC President Ari A. Ariaran, who reflected on the Chamber’s vision, priorities, and commitment to serving the Tamil business and professional community.

The celebration was further enriched by inspiring remarks from esteemed political leaders, including Hon. Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Public Safety, and Councillor Neethan Shan, who both acknowledged the contributions of the Tamil community and the important role CTCC plays in economic empowerment and civic engagement.

Guests enjoyed vibrant dance and musical performances, adding cultural richness and festive spirit to the Thai Pongal celebration.

At 8:00 p.m., the event transitioned into the Members-Only 1st Quarterly Meeting, officially called to order by VP Internal Affairs Vithu Ramachandran. Key governance and operational updates were also presented, including:

·         Approval of the agenda and AGM minutes

·         President’s Remarks by Ari A. Ariaran

·         Finance Update by VP Finance Suresh Tharmalingam

·         Membership Update by VP Membership Christeen Seevaratnam

·         External Affairs Update by Kayan Kaneshalingam

·         Marketing & Communications Update delivered by Gobi Thiru on behalf of Mahen Singarajah

During the meeting, Mr. Ramachandran also delivered a detailed presentation on the Tamil Venture Zone projects, highlighting CTCC’s strategic initiatives to support entrepreneurship, innovation, and business growth within the community here in Canada and Sri Lanka.

The evening concluded with networking and dinner, providing members with an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and strengthen business and community relationships.
