UMANANTHINI NISHANTHAN
Umananthini (Uma) Nishanthan was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2017.

She completed the internationally trained lawyers program at the University of Toronto. She also earned a diploma as a law clerk from Seneca College in 2013.

Uma worked as a Legal Assistant at a Real Estate Law Firm based in Toronto where she gained her extensive knowledge and experience in the area of Ontario Real Estate Law.

She was a successful law practitioner in Vavuniya and Colombo, Sri Lanka since 2002 until she immigrated to Canada in 2009. Her main area of practice in Sri Lanka was Real Estate Law. Uma completed her law degree in the Faculty of Law at the University of Colombo in 1999. She also obtained her professional qualifications at the Sri Lanka Law College in 2000 and took her oaths as an “Attorney at Law” at the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 2001.

From 2000 to 2003, she was a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Law in the University of Colombo and the Law Faculty at Open University. She was a Human Rights Law Facilitator and was very involved in the Violence Against Women Program offered by some of the Non-Governmental Organizations in Sri-Lanka.
