Welcome to Canadian Tamils' Chamber of Commerce

Established in 1991, the Canadian Tamil Chamber of Commerce ( CTCC ) is a voluntary, non-political, and not-for profit organization aimed at developing successful businesses and entrepreneurship in the Tamil community in Canada, and at promoting charitableness and volunteerism in the community. CTCCs membership continues to expand on a regular basis, and currently stands at over 450.

Our Mission Statement

CTCC mission is to "Develop and Foster Entrepreneurship", and help to produce business leaders and entrepreneurs who would contribute to the development of Canadian economy in general, and enrich the Tamil community in particular.


Accordingly, our activities are designed to:

» Support and assist the emergence of new enterprises and entrepreneurs
» Support the growth and development of businesses already in operation
» Extend all possible assistance to meet the challenges in the highly competitive business environment facing the business community
» Promote charitableness and volunteerism in the community.

President - Sritharan Thurairajah

Sritharan Thurairajah is a well respected member of the Tamil community. Since 1989 he was extensively involved in the auto industry and worked in various capacities for Hertz Canada. As a customer service representative with Hertz Canada, he has earned the reputation of many Canadians and Senior Management. After joining the financial services industry for the past five years, he is working as an independent insurance broker and providing financial services and investment advice to Canadians. Sri is also involved in various community activities and organizations.

Executive Vice President - Santha Panchalingam

Santha was educated at Urumpirai Hindu College in Northern Sri Lanka. He then migrated to France in 1982 and worked in France for 5 years. Then moved to Canada in 1986.  In Canada he formed his own company called Santha Maintenance Ltd, which provided Electrical, Plumbing and Drainage Services. He also undertook Residential and Commercial Renovation work and he also owned other business with stores like Taco Bell and KFC (Kiss Groups of Company LTD).

In 2002, Santha got an award for ten years of entrepreneurship by CTCC. Santha was also the recipient of the Award of Excellence in 2007 from the CTCC, for his entrepreneur skills as he commands several leading enterprises among the mainstream market as his customers. Santha is married and the proud father of three daughters.
Vice President - Internal Affairs - Sivan Ilangko

Ilangko holds the Chartered Accountant designation from both Canada and Sri Lanka. Currently, Ilangko is a senior manager at Ernst & Young LLP and specializes in the financial services industry.  Prior to that, Ilangko worked at KPMG in Sri Lanka, Ernst & Young in Bahrain, and on secondment to the Maldives Islands, Kuwait and New York.  Ilangko is a member of Ascend Canada and the Treasurer of the Stoufville Multiculural Association. Ilangko was a key architect of the current constitution of the Chamber.

Vice President - Finance - Gajan Mahan
Gajan obtained his Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Human Resource management with first class from Anna University India and his Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from Madras University. He has diverse experience in marketing, customer relations, sales and Information Technology gained in Sri-Lanka, India, and Canada. Gajan brings a unique perspective to the Canadian Tamil Chamber of Commerce
Vice President - Community Relations - Ajith Sabaratnam
Ajith has been in the financial services industry since 1987, and a financial advisor with Sun Life Financial since 2001, where he has helped clients successfully prepare financially for their future. Since joining the company, he placed in the top two producers nationally in 2004, has been the number one producer in the region and recognized amongst the top 10 advisors in Canada for last 11 years. His contribution as an Elite advisor to his community has been very impactful and earned him reputable respect amongst his people. He has been a member of the Canadian Tamil Chamber of commerce for 10 years.
Vice President - Membership - Dilani Gunarajah

Dilani Gunarajah, Barrister and Solicitor, called to the Ontario bar on July 2005, a sole practitioner in the areas of Family Law, Estate Law, Immigration Law, and Business Law.  Her office is located at 2401 Eglinton Avenue, Suite 210, Toronto, ON.

She enjoys working as a sole practitioner because it allows her the flexibility to maintain a balance between her work and home life, and the opportunity to practice in the areas she enjoys

President in 2012 - Mike Ahillan

Mike has been a member of the Chamber for the last 11 years. He has been working with Royal Bank for the last 18 Years. During his time with RBC, he has worked in different roles. He is currently working as a Senior Account Manager in Residential Mortgages. Mike has previously worked in Sri Lanka Commercial Bank of Ceylon Ltd. He has also volunteered in various community events and actively promoted the Chamber in the local community.
Director - Akila Senthil

Akila is the Owner and Principal Broker of Good Grade Mortgages Limited and has been in the mortgage industry for over 13 years.  Akila is also a mentor for number of mortgage agents and help them achieve their goals. Akila is an assistance guru for the Sai Center where she teaches young children. Akila has taken several leadership roles organizing in fund raising events for Canadian Cancer Society, the Lions Club and school and sports associations.
Director - Gnane Gnanendran

Gnane is an IT Operations Specialist and currently employed at Cole Eng. Group in Markham. Prior to that he was a certified foreign going merchant marine navigating office. He has been a member of CTCC since 1994 and have taken active part in several sub-committees. He is a freelance photographer cum graphic designer and also contributes to print media. He has designed several CTCC publications including annual Enterprise magazines.  Gnane received many appreciation awards for his voluntary contribution to community including public spirited support award from the Ethnic Press Council of Canada in 2003.

Director – Siva Shanmuganathan

Siva is a Real Estate Broker at Homelife Future Realty Inc. and has been in the real estate industry over 8 years. Siva is a member of Real Estate council of Ontario, Toronto Real Estate Board and the Ontario Real Estate Association. Siva graduated from Seneca College with a diploma in Computer Engineering Technology and worked at Celestica prior to moving into real estate industry. Siva has participated in number of community events, including fundraising for Hospital for Sick Kids, Heart and Stroke Foundations and United Way.
